Castle Großlaupheim
New permanent exhibition “Jewish Relationship Stories”
The history of Christians and Jews in Laupheim is retold with great care in the historic Großlaupheim Castle. Under the leadership of the renowned scenography firm chezweitz and the curatorial team from the Haus der Geschichte in Stuttgart, a new permanent exhibition entitled “Jewish Relationship History” has been created.
Spanning approximately 800 m² across several floors, the exhibition explores the history of Christian-Jewish coexistence over three centuries: from the protection afforded by the Barons of Welden, through cultural and economic prosperity, to persecution and loss during the Nazi era. The scenography by chezweitz combines rooms worked out with textile threads and scraps with object-like installations, historical documents, and biographies such as Carl Laemmle or Friedrich Adler.
The lighting supports the history of the relationship and contrasts with deliberately accentuated fabrics and objects and diffuse, soft light, taking into account conservation and sustainability principles.
